What is a high mold count?
There is no single answer until you define the measurement.
Outdoor mold counts
Outdoor monitoring programs may publish qualitative categories for local airborne spores. Those categories are useful for environmental or allergy context but are not federal standards for indoor buildings.
Indoor mold counts
EPA says no federal standards or threshold limit values have been established for airborne mold or mold spores. A competent interpretation considers the outdoor control, mold types, moisture history, visual inspection, sampling method, and reason for testing.
So when should a result get attention?
When the lab pattern and the building tell the same story: indoor amplification, moisture damage, visible growth, musty odor, or recurrence after a known leak. The number is evidence—not a verdict by itself.
