Season, rainfall, humidity, wind, temperature, decaying vegetation, landscaping, agriculture, and local ecology can all change airborne fungal spores.

Why categories vary

Different monitoring programs can use different collection methods, reporting periods, and category definitions. Treat the source's own scale as the correct scale for that source rather than mixing categories between networks.

Use outdoor data as context

Outdoor conditions are useful for environmental awareness and as a comparison point for indoor air sampling. They are not a substitute for investigating a wet or mold-damaged building.
